but ASTAP seems not to use them to annotate ?
It is always difficult to find all the stars in the picture without annotation.
For other stars, ASTAP works well and annotates all stars needed.
I just saw variable star databases are local Excel files, is there a way to update them with
data from AAVSO ? Or do I miss a setup step to tell ASTAP to use an online database for Vstar annotation ?
Thanks and CS

If you would like to refer to this comment somewhere else in this project, copy and paste the following link:
For the Linux and Mac installer search in the webpage for "variable stars"
You then have to select the larger database in tab photometry. See attached.
Note to select them try in photmetry tab the option "measure all annotated. Then you do nott have to select the variables in the image but you select them in the report.
Hello,
I recently missed stars from there, example is V0973 Cep , it is not annotated.
Variable Star Plotter in CCD mode lists comparision stars
https://apps.aavso.org/vsp/photometry/?star=V973+Cep&orientation=ccd&type=photometry&fov=120.0&maglimit=13.0&resolution=150&north=up&east=left&lines=True

The database is an extract from AAVSO. So should be complete.
I just checked. It is in the larger database. The standard database goes down to magnitude 11. Just install to other files down to magnitude 15.
Windows installer for larger AAVSO database :
https://sourceforge.net/projects/astap-program/files/star_databases/variable_star_database.exe/download
