I have a problem using "Unknown Star Annotation" I get an error message "ut is an invalid integer" I have seen this before, or in the forum, any idea what is causing this? All other annotations are working fine.
The PNG is not usefull. To find the cause I like to reproduce to error and for that I need the same astronomical image you have used. You can attach the image also in this forum but do not send it by email. Or just upload it to
I simply solve an image then click on "Unknown Star Annotations" then the dialog appears. I am hoping to see if I captured anything that is not recognised.
Hi. I have exactly the same problem as reported in the original post. i.e when I go to "Unknown Star Annotation" I get an error message "ut is an invalid integer" .
How can this be solved?

Sorry, I have just been inputting RAW FIT Files from Astroberry which are CR2 RAW Converted already. Maybe this is the issue. The RAW FIT conversion is part of the latest Astroberry release and has lowered my time to carry out imaging and conversions for DSS, Siril and ASTAP.
I will check on earlier CR2 Files and get back with the result. I will also post images after the completion of further testing

Both files are not given any errors here, so I'm a little puzzled what happening at your side. Can you give me a screenshot of ASTAP tab alignment in the stack menu (ctrl+A)
Can you check if the solution matches by "Star (database) annotation"ctrl+N The circels should match with the stars. Maybe your solution is totally wrong due to settings change. E.g tolerance too high.
I have seen only one FITS and one TIF file but not the CR2 but I don't think that matters
Please reply on the forum, otherwise the email address's will be shown. I have edited you post's to remove those email addresses.
I have to leave now and will come back later in the day.

Sorry for the delay, been hectic here, attached are the two photos one of the Stack Method and the other for Pixel Math (mainly for the field of view which is perfect).
I'm reworking the "unknown star" menu to improve it. Just to make it work better. Maybe it helps with your error but I will release it tonight or tomorrow anyhow.

That looks all normal. Maybe there is something wrong with the annulus setting in the photometry tab.
Can you try the option "Show extend solver log" See red marked in attached image. Try then menu "Show unknown stars". Then copy the loq and post it here. Hopefully that tells something.
The next step would to go to default settings. In the viewer, go to menu FILE, SETTINGS, GO TO DEFAULT SETTINGS. Maybe it is good for the record to save the setting first to something else like default2.
I decided to carry out a few tests myself and After setting the "Star database used" to H17 the problem did not happen. It only occurs when it is set to Auto.
I compared the logs between the failed one and the good one and there is no difference.
Good Test (H17) Similar test done for (H18) same results:
Good , that is an helpful observation ! Now I can now repeat the problem here. It will be easy to solve.
For unknown star detection, you best use the H18. I noted some stars are missing in the database. I investigated and these star magnitude was unreliable and excluded from the ASTAP database.

Hello Malcom,
I don't see it here. Can you share the image which causes the error? E.g. upload to
https://ufile.io/
and share the link.
Regards, Han
Hi Hank,
I tried to attach it to the email, and I have uploaded the error dialog.

Hello Luke, can you upload or share the image so I can reproduce the error? At the moment i don't see the error here.

Hello Luke, Malcom,
Without an image i can't reproduce the error at the moment. Please share one.

I posted some images last week. I have tested the links and they are working OK.

Hello Malcom,
Yes the files I can download but it are all screenshots. I need the original result_Siril.fit file. Can you provide this file?
At least I can see it is a stacked colour file from Siril.

Hi Han,
Tried a CR2 File that I was able to solve, and this also came with the same error, the file is - https://ufile.io/050pehha
Can you send me a link to a working file that you have in your system, along with Focal Length and Pixel size?

Unfortunately the alignment tab is not there.

You could try this Windows version 2022-05-04:

This is now fixed in version 2022.5.9 just uploaded.
It tried to read the limiting magnitude from the word auto instead of h18. The letters ut can't be converted to a number.
