monochromatic stacking

    I have a monochromatic camera that generates fits files. Stacking worked fine with ASTAP, but the output is in color, with three color channels in the resulting fits. Am I doing something wrong? The history info in the output says it debayering using a specific pattern, and that should probably not happen with only monochromatic fits as input. The header in those indicate "none" for the Bayer mask. The dark and flat frames stored as fits seem to be monochromatic, but the calibrated result is in color. Thanks.

    I assume you have to uncheck the option "Force processing as OSC images". See attached.

    Thanks for the quick reply, Han. The "Force processing as OSC images" was unchecked (verified again this evening). Still get "Demosaic Bayer pattern RGGB" in the header of the resulting image, and it is indeed color. Under "tools" I see you have "Activate/de-activate auto de-mosaic" but did not have any effect. I also double checked that the flats and darks are monochrome.

    That is weird. Can you share a light for testing? You could attach one to a post here or share it in an other way?

    The only way I can explain it is that one of the files has the keyword BAYERPAT. Can you go to the light tab, call op the popup window with the right mouse button and select "change column keyword", "Change keyword last column"and type BAYERPAT. The select all your files again and press analyse. The last column should stay blank for mono image. See attached.

    Thanks again Han. I get BAYERPAT = NONE. Im attaching one of the image files.

    The resulting image of 106 Mb was too large to be uploaded (even zipped)

    The problem is this in the header:
    BAYERPAT= 'NONE ' / Debayer pattern,such as RGGB,BGGR,GRBG,GBRG

    For NONE the program tries the default RGGB.
    This keyword should never be written for a monochrome file. ZWO is to blame.
    I will look for a solution.

    Tonight or tomorrow, I will release a fix.

    If your in an hurry, you could remove all keywords BAYERPAT with the popup menu of the light tab. Type DELETE as value or just wait.

    Fixed in ASTAP version 2024.03.12 and released for Windows.

    ... and yes its a ZWO 533 MM. Probably good to have fixed this, as I have the impression its a popular camera now.
