I am trying to use ASTAP for photometry from Seestar data, where raw data is pre-calibrated. I followed a youtube tutorial, but for some reason, whenever I switch to photometry tab and select an image, the selection for var, check and 3 disappeared. No matter where I click , I cannot select a star to be any of the choices.

    What am I missing?

    Thanks.

Figured it out. Even though I had set in Stack method not to force processing as OSC, and I chose Calibration only as demo'ed in a video I watched, the result files were demosaic'ed, and thus the Photometry mode will not allow for me to specify the var, check and comp. I realized there's a calibrate but not demosaic mode, and now I can move on.

I jumped the gun and assumed I was on the right track. Unfortunately, no.

I was following the guide outlined here:

    https://www.astronomyedinburgh.org/2024/08/18/photometry-in-astap-with-a-seestar-monitoring-t-crb/

    I am using ASTAP 2024.12.19 64 bits

When I open a raw fits file copied directly from a 10s exposure from Seestar, the var, check and other markers disappeared and I cannot assign any stars to be one of these.

Is there a SNR threshold before I can assign these marks? I am attaching a sample fits file in the region centered at 44 Tauri

I can confirm that I do see the variable star annotations, but I just cannot assign the Var, Check or 3

    Any suggestions?

There are two conditions to make them visible.

    1) Select tab photometry.
    2) Select "manual star selection" in tab photometry.

Then you can select the var, check and 3.
    the V50.
For best accuracy install the V50 database and select in tab alignment the V50. See also yellow marking in screenshot tab photometry.

    Cheers, Han

Thank you! That was the missing piece.
