Hi there,
I was calibrating a set of NEF images (lights(in photometry tab)/darks/flats/flatdarks) which ran fine until it finished the master flat. The program then stopped with an access violation (see attachment). Is there any idea what happened and how it might be solved?
No idea t this moment. The master flat is readyt so i assume it is something related to the lights. Can you share the master flat and one or more light? ( the first in the list)
I noticed the flat signal level is very very low. Maybe not related but you should have a much higher signal/light levels. At the moment the maximum pixel value is about 1600 and the pedestal is maybe 800. You should have flat exposed up to pixle value 40000 or 50000. The exposure time was 5 seconds so the light source is too weak.
This resulted in very poor flat correction of the light. Could you remake the flats and test again?
Cheers, Han

Hi Han,
I usually expose so that the maximum of the histogram is at the middle of the brightness range. I'll redo brighter flats and try again.
Thanks and cs

Hi Han,
same result with brighter flats. I doubt that this is the problem as I have processed comet images successfully with much darker flats.
I also tried again without flat darks and received the message:
Combining flats and flat-darks.
22:56:40 Saved F:\Namibia\flats\master_flat_corrected_with_flat_darks_CV_20xF_0xFD_8sec_2024-11-23.fit
so the program acts as if flat darks have been loaded even though there are no files present.
Could there be the source of the problem?

20xF_0xFD indicates there is still a master flat (20xF) of 20 flats in use which was build without flat-darks (0xFD)
Can you unselect all flats in tab flats and try again? If that doesn't work probably best way forward if you share your screen for a remote session with something like team viewer so I can have a look. If you send me a personal message or email we could set that up to find the problem.
Cheers, Han

Hi Han,
I tried your suggestion, removing all flats and then even removed all darks but always had the same error. This is particularly weird as I recently processed a lot of comet images (same camera) without these problems.
Just to make sure I will try on a different pc to see if I can reproduce the error there and report back to you.

See the crop of your list:

Yes weird. Have you tried to download again and reinstall the program?
Maybe it is also good to reset the settings. go to viewer menu File, Settings, Reset Settings...
