Hi,
I've been trying to use ASTAP for its live staking features by capturing lights using kstars/ekos and pointing ASTAP to the capture folder. ASTAP is running incredibly slow showing a contant beach ball and incredibly long latency that makes it unuasable when trying to adjust the strech. I downloaded the M1 zip file and believe I've placed the file in the right contents folder. but maybe I did something wrong. I'm using an M1 Macmini running MacOS 14.5
I also Have an M3 macbook pro that I would like to install ASTAP for outreach in if it works well. Which file should I download
I noticed that ASTAP alters the light files to .fits_ which is not viewable in the fits viewer. where can I find the original files? Also where is the stacked file located?
Sorry for all the questions but there arent many alternatives in mac for live stacking I really like the feature set that ASTAP provides and hope that I can get it working well on my mac.
Thank you,
Eli

Best is to use the .pkg installer. The zip file is only for people who want to use the very latest development version.
There is in ASTAP a button to rename the all .fits_ files back to .fits. The renaming temporary to .fits_ is done to keep track of which files have be processed.
Stacking can be slow. Looking to the folder for new files is not ideal.

Hi Han,
Using the .pkg installer was a good solution. It is now much more resposive.
I noticed that I can't plate solve while the livestacking. As I normally use livestack in EAA for outreach it will be very helpful to have this functionality so I can identify objects in the frame while livestacking. Is this a possiblity? What about in CCD Ciel?
Thank you so much for all your help,
Eli

Never tested that but in livestacking mode it is very busy. Secondly ASTAP is still a single processor application. Probably the easiest way would be to start a second ASTAP and use this second program to solve an image.
You can solve any new image with the tab monitoring. But running monitoring and live stack will not work at the same time.

Hi Eli,
For a M3 book just download the M1 version. Code signing once is required. See instructions at this link (bottom)!!
