Hi all. new user to astap..used the other guy for years but has been failing me. Problem is, using my SCT focal length 2100mm, some of the star fields are slim pickings. I see where the d80 file is for small field of views. It comes as a zip with no installer. I unziped and put in the astap folder but it does not see it. I did install the d50 installer and astap sees that no issue. Still having issues using the SCT and plate solving but it will blind solve no problem. How can I get astap to see the d80 files?

    Thanks, Jeff

    Hi Jeff,

Up to week ago I didn't promote the D80. The D50 should work fine for 99% of the users. A week ago I put it in the selection table for users with a very small field-of-view. That is also the reason it is in a zip file and no installer was provided.

The D80 is currently not automatic selected. I will change that in the code. But you should be able to selected it manually. I you start ASTAP, go to the stack menu (ctrl-A), tab alignment you should see a menu option "Star database used" This will be most likley on "auto" There you should be able to select D80 (if it installed) . Then save setting by click on the "Solve button"or by leaving ASTAP by pull down menu File., Exit (save settings).

    See attached.

    Does this work for you?

I will update the program for auto selection probably tonight or tomorrow.

    Han

    Hi Jeff,

Just uploaded ASTAP version 2023.05.14. D80 should now work in auto selection as long your FOV is smaller then 0.5 degrees. Else it would first try to find and use the D50. If D50 is not found it will select the D80 anyhow.
