No "cvs" is supposed to appear here! The command
export CVSROOT=:pserver:an...@cv...:/home/cvs
is just meant to set the environment variable CVSROOT to the required
value before you start using cvs.

Can't reproduce this, but what kind of shell are you using? If it's
csh or tcsh or something similar try to replace
export CVSROOT=:pserver:an...@cv...:/home/cvs
(which works for sh, bash and ksh) by
setenv CVSROOT :pserver:an...@cv...:/home/cvs
Everything else hopefully should work unchanged.

This is definitely a problem with BSD make, and you _should_ use GNU make, available as gmake on FreeBSD. Since I have the same problème on my Redhat 9 box, I also try to compile
form the CVS.
I guess my problemes are comming from autoconf (GNU Autoconf) 2.57.
But "cvprep" don't make any "configure" file and is making Warnings:

Hello,
has anyone had success installing and compiling
aspseek 1.2.10 or any other version on freebsd 5.1? I
have tried 1.2.9 and 1.2.10 and have had no luck with
it.

When I seek words with variables gr=off and s=date (don't group by sites and sort by date) all documents from /texts1 are before any document from /texts2, even in that case if date of the document from /texts1 is less than date of the letter document from /texts2. All the dates of modification files (set by touch -m MMDDhhmm filename)is correct in web-server and database. In aspseek.conf I have only one string Server http://192.168.2.15/ Please any ideas fo correct sorting by date? Thanks. Ok, found the bug. The s.cgi forgets to escape HTML special chars from exceprts. Below is the patch for aspseek.cpp. Please correct the code as needed sicne i'm not a C/C++ programmer. buf[2048] may overflow if you need more than 2048 chars in exceprts. There are patches however for stable and it is incorporated into the current 1.3.0 development tree (see CVS section of http://www.aspseek.org/). You'll find patches for stable here: http://aspseek.unixatwork.com/ The PHP module, also available at the above location, is partially documented and most PHP functions are more or less calls straight into the API so the PHP module documentation (and or source code) will give you some clues. Not knowing what your workflow system is developed in I can't offer much in terms of supported development languages. However the API suits integration using C/C++ and the PHP module obviously provides support for PHP.
