You have
--mode=<string>, -e, -H, -t, -n
Sets the filter mode. Mode is one of none, url, email, html,
tex or nroff.<...>
while "aspell modes" shows additional ones.
"Mode is one of" is confusing since it seems to indicate only the following are available. Text should instead refer to "aspell modes" to see the full list.
Discussion
The man page is incomplete, I agree. I think the text should be reworded rather than list none o the modes at all.
