Is it feasible to include asynchrous file io operations in ASIO library?

On windows, IOCP can be used on file as easy as socket.
although I don't know how hard to use the same interface to provide file access on other platforms.

This would be a very nice feature, enabling the transparant use of e.g. serial ports and FIFO files / pipes within the ASIO framework.
