Hello,

Thank you for making this good project. I'm the
author of a VoIP phone called linphone (see
http://simon.morlat.free.fr ), and I would be
interested if your sound daemon will be able to have
very low latency in full duplex mode ( I mean about
256 samples in 8000 hz mono, depending on the sound
card capabilitites...).
For the moment, there is no sound daemon able of
doing this, so I have to deal directly with oss or
alsa api, which is not a bad solution, excepted the
fact that linphone has to kill artsd and esd before
when it needs to open the sound device...which causes
strange effects on the programs that were using it at
the same time...
Asd seems to be the first that aims to do low -
latency in capture mode: I hope it will be choosen as
the official sound daemon for gnome !
Don't hesitate to contact me if you want further
information on how I made low latency sound interface
in linphone (I support 0.5.x Alsa native api too).
Unfortunately I have too little time to help directly
your project, since I have too much things to do with
linphone.( maybe a asd plugin soon ?)
Best regards,
Simon
