Hello there I would greatly appreciate a small amount of your time to assist with my doctoral research at The University of Newcastle. The research concerns open source licensing and we're seeking developers working on Java projects. The research is supervised, ethics-approved, anonymous and results will be freely available. Participation will also provide a custom licensing report for your project. To learn more, please visit: http://licensing-research.newcastle.edu.au Thanks for reading this email, and I hope you'll consider participating. Best regards Ben Alex (My apologies for being off-topic; this list will not be emailed again) |

The Software.* Fedora Core (the “Software”) is a modular Linux operating system consisting of hundreds of software components. The end user license agreement for each component is located in the component's source code. With the exception of certain image files containing the Fedora trademark identified in Section 2 below, the license terms for the components permit User to copy, modify, and redistribute the component, in both source code and binary code forms. This agreement does not limit User's rights under, or grant User rights that supersede, the license terms of any particular component. So basically the Fedora logo etc are trademark restricted, you can see info on that here: http://fedora.redhat.com/about/trademarks/ But other than that it seems like its all free software David |

Hi I have just released PyAsaph 0.3 This release features a number of fixes to the layout code and subsequent improvements, such as the fact that the presentation screen doesn't have that irritating scrollbar on it anymore. We have now been using PyAsaph for the worship services in our church successfully for almost a year and some other churches in South Africa are also hoping to use it. The files are all downloadable from here: http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=59205&package_id=110230&release_id=265076 There is a standalone installer for Windows (pyasaph-0.3-setup.exe) which doesn't require Python etc. Also RPMs for Linux are now available (should be fairly platform independent). I have also started a wiki on church software at http://davidf.sjsoft.com/wiki/churchsoftware/ which contains some info on using PyAsaph and Asaph (not very much at present but there is an install guide for Windows) Regards David |

Yes, I'm aware of the issue with the import plugin. I have it fixed in CVS; I'll see if I can get a patch release out in the next few days. Daniel |

I used this to save a word document as an .sxw from OpenOffice.org and then imported a number of songs from there. It's probably fairly tuned to the styles defined in that document (our song book) but could be easily adapted. Basically it tries to detect where the start and end of songs are. Of course, if you're doing multiple files each with an individual song in them it should be easier, and if they're text files even more so. Let me know if you would like to use this / how you go with it. >I've also tried the experimental import plugin - it crashes Asaph as >soon as i've selected it. Hi folks, I'm wondering if anyone has done bulk imports of songs into Asaph, and if so, how they've done it. I've looked at the XML file format and it looks fairly straightforward, but when i try to use files i've created that way, it seems to produce unpredictable results, or worse, crash Asaph. I've also tried the experimental import plugin - it crashes Asaph as soon as i've selected it. For wxPython I have used both the native wxPythonGTK2-2.4.2.4 and the development 2.5.1.5 and 2.5.2.x packages. It is possible that pyasaph will work fine with Python 2.1, but I haven't had a chance to test it. Debian stable has wxPython 2.2 (the package is called libwxgtk2.2-python), testing and unstable both have 2.4, and experimental has 2.5.x I doubt that the program will work well with wxPython 2.2, but it should work fine with 2.4. testing and unstable both have python 2.3, so you should be able to get it from there I haven't used debian (though I use apt-get on my Fedora box) so I don't know the procedures but I hope you can get it going. IMHO stable is only usable on a server, everybody I know (including me) run unstable on their desktop/laptop. A word about testing: It's supposed the best of both worlds (stability and new software) but it's widely agreed it gives you the worst in stead (old software and problems related to dependencies)... -- peace, love & harmony Atte http://www.atte.dk |

A quick question: which Linux distribution are you using as a development platform, and do you use the native Python/wxPython, or do you install your own? I use Debian, and it appears that they only ship Python 2.1 with both stable and testing. Thanks, Paul <http://paulgear.webhop.net> -- Did you know? Hi I have just released PyAsaph 0.2.3 This release features a number of fixes and minor improvements. Also Dave Durrett has started working on the code - great to have another developer! In addition, there is now a standalone Windows installer program that doesn't require Python or wxPython (pyasaph-0.2.3-setup.exe) - and has actually been tested! I would be very interested to hear if anyone else is actually using PyAsaph, or have tried and found problems. I hope that the Windows installer will enable more people to try out the package. (Sandra, have you had any chance to try?) We have now been using PyAsaph for the worship services in our church successfully for four months. We are also preparing helpful notes for operators. The files are all downloadable from here: http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=59205&package_id=110230&release_id=265076 In addition, I have done some testing of PyAsaph on Mac OS X ... it needs a few improvements to work, which should hopefully be included shortly. Any questions or feedback is welcome! Regards David |

I've just released pyasaph 0.2.2 so that you can try out the latest minor changes (setting colour actually) I would recommend trying it out at home - feedback to the list any questions and I'll try answer quickly... pyasaph 0.2.2 announcement will come later but it should be available for download... Hey all, I have been out of circulation for the last few months (combination of personal and work pressures), so I haven't had a chance to try downloading pyasaph. In addition, our projector at church lost it's bulb, and a new bulb was $600! Our songleader just called me yesterday to say that she was picking up a new projector for $899, so the pressure is now on to try out pyasaph! I will be putting it on the church's win98se system first (I hope to load linux on it when I get some time) which isn't networked - so I need to download everything here at home, and burn it on CD; I'd like to get everything the first time. What all needs to be installed? I assume wxPython, and Python need to be installed. Do I also need to install asaph, or is pyasaph inclusive of asaph? What about any databases? And, has anyone had success running pyasaph on win98? Thanks for any insight! -- Sandra Capri <sc...@sp...> |

I'm able to reproduce it on Mac OS X also. It's a regression; this definitely was working before. It also happens if you attempt to paste just one line, but at the line level; may be happening whenever a new line is created by the clipboard mechanism. This is pretty serious. I'll probably release a patch when it's fixed. > I still get warnings like this: > [javadoc] Constructing Javadoc information... > [javadoc] > /usr/local/src/asaph-cvs/src/com/virtuosotechnologies/lib/platform/ > MacOSXPlatformProvider.java:45: package com.apple.eawt does not exist > [javadoc] import com.apple.eawt.Application; > [javadoc] ^ > [javadoc] > /usr/local/src/asaph-cvs/src/com/virtuosotechnologies/lib/platform/ > MacOSXPlatformProvider.java:46: package com.apple.eawt does not exist > [javadoc] import com.apple.eawt.ApplicationAdapter; > [javadoc] ^ > > etc... I'm not sure how to suppress those warnings on non-Mac systems, but I'll look into it later. They don't hurt anything: those Apple classes never should show up in the Javadoc anyway. Daniel |

OK, thanks, that fixed it I still get warnings like this: [javadoc] Constructing Javadoc information... [javadoc] /usr/local/src/asaph-cvs/src/com/virtuosotechnologies/lib/platform/MacOSXPlatformProvider.java:45: package com.apple.eawt does not exist [javadoc] import com.apple.eawt.Application; [javadoc] ^ [javadoc] /usr/local/src/asaph-cvs/src/com/virtuosotechnologies/lib/platform/MacOSXPlatformProvider.java:46: package com.apple.eawt does not exist [javadoc] import com.apple.eawt.ApplicationAdapter; [javadoc] ^ etc... I presume this is just that you can't see the apple stuff off the Mac and can just be ignored... David |
