Dear Stance, I am sorry you are encountering this issue. I have just tried an .stl file with the latest version of Artifact3-D uploaded to SourceForge and it worked well. Is it possible that the file you are try to run is corrupt in some way? I am attaching the file I used here so that you can try if it works on your computer. You should also try other 3D file types such as .wrl or .ply Please let us know if this problem persists, Heeli CompArchLab team

I solved this problem by compiling the source code myself, but even after successful installation the program does not start with the error "The usage time for this program has expired. Please contact Huji Computerized Archeology Laboratory." I am attaching the file I compiled, maybe you will have better luck!

Hello! I have problems running your software. At first I tried to run MyAppInstaller_web.exe that you built, but I got a 403 server error. After that I built the project myself in MatLab and the MyAppInstaller_web.exe that I built was successfully installed. However, when I run the newly installed program, it gives the error "The usage time for this program has expired. Please contact Huji Computerized Archeology Laboratory." How can I solve this? Hi David, Thanks for getting back to us and for sending an image of the error. Another thing you can try is to ensure that setcurvature.exe and Artifact3_D.exe in the application folder (i.e. something like: C:\Program Files\Artifact3_D\application) have full permissions for Users. Right-click the files, choose the "Properties" option and go to the "Security" tab. You can grant permissions by pressing the Edit button, choosing "Users" and ticking all the options in the "Allow" column. And then ensure...

Unfortunately the issue persists. I'm running an entirely new installation of Windows 11 on my PC (Dell Precision 5540) and have double and triple checked that my installation follows the readme guide. I have also tried with the SetCurvature file from the full package as well as redownloaded and replaced it with the most current one. I would try with a legacy version of the file but cannot locate an old file here on SourceForge. I've attached a new screendump of the error. This is on the example...

Hi David, Thank you so much for your message and for letting us know about this problem. This error is usually due to a problem with the setcurvature file. The easiest solution is to replace the setcurvature.exe file in the Program Files > Artifact3_D > application folder with a new copy of setcurvature.exe downloaded from the Files tab of the sourceforge page. Once you've replaced it, then run Artifact3_D as administrator and try the Analyze (scars panel) function on the example scan. Let us know...

Hi Remy, Thanks for sending the model. It appears to be a scaling issue. The item you sent looks like its scaled in metres (the default in metashape), but Artefact3-D works in mm. When I measure the blade you sent in MeshLab (which treats scans as unitless, i.e. with whichever coordinates you import into the program), I get a length of about 0.04. So if the blade you sent is about 40mm, then I suspect your Metashape has exported the mesh in m. Metashape should let you export your model in mm. Alternatively,...

Hi, Unfortunately, it did not. Still impossible to load model from Metashape (i tried different models, reduced size, all files extensions). Problem is the endless "drawing" step. It seems software doesn't work from Photogrammetry.

Hi Maciej and Remy, Thank you for letting us know about these problems. For the Scar Panel's 'Analyze' error, there's a few common problems that might help. First, ensure that the setcurvature.exe file has been copied into the application folder, as per the instructions in the readme file on the sourceforge webpage. Second, run Artifact3-D in administrator mode. And third, make sure that the correct version of matlab runtime is installed in the MATLAB folder in your program files folder. For Artifact3-D,...

It might be easiest to email it to me (antoine.muller@mail.huji.ac.il). But if it's working for one scan, but not others, it might be an issue with the files in the folder. For instance, make sure they're all 3d scan files (e.g. wrl), and make sure they're named uniformly (i.e. without puncuation like periods etc. and...

Hi Remy, Since I am a relatively new user too, I probably won't help much. All I know is that the models must be fully watertight - no holes, borders, no non-manifold edges and vertices - but I'm sure you've already checked that. Besides that, a similar MATLAB-based app (Artifact GeoMorph Toolbox 3-D, see https://sourceforge.net/p/artifact-geomorph-toolbox-3d/discussion/general/) likes to have the scans named in a certain way: starting with letters, and no hyphens. Hi everyone! I'd like to as if any of you ever ran into problems with the Analyze/Analyze Directory functions. Every time I try to do it, I get an error message (attached). Hi! I have a number of questions! I have been using A3D for taking length, width, and thickness measurements. I believe a batch process is possible using the "process directory" option. But, when I try to process multiple artifacts, it encounters an error after processing the first artifact mesh. I have a screenshot of the log when it encounters the error. First of all, I am impressed by Artifact 3D, it is the software that many have thought about but few archaeologists have been able to implement. In fact, I am faced with a problem that I cannot solve. The buttons for Add Current View, Save Plate and Remove Item remain inactive, so they are not usable. Dear Sorin, Thank you so much for bringing this problem to our attention. This appears to be a problem with Windows deleting temporary cached files. This includes 'matlabrc', which initializes compiled MATLAB programs like Artifact3-D . You can solve this by deleting the temporary cache (mcrCache9.3), and then re-opening Artifact3-D as usual - this creates a new cache in which the matlabrc will be restored. To delete the folder, go to C:\Users[username]\AppData\Local\Temp[username]\mcrCache9.3. In...
