Problems on Irix

I'm new to this list, having picked up ARSperl yesterday.

I am installing ARSperl on an SGI running IRIX 5.3.

The example script Show_Menu.pl works fine, but any of the example scripts
that need to malloc fail, with:
can't malloc at Dump_Users.pl line 43.   (for example).

I saw some mail on this list yesterday about a malloc problem that
had been fixed....is there some other fix I need to get this to work
on Irix?
