ok. i've checked into it.. apparently irix ships with perl4 .. not perl5.
so you will need to compile perl5 first before you use this extension.

i've obtained an account on a local sgi and i'm seeing if perl5 compiles on
it. i'll let you know what options i used for getting the DynaLoader to 
work (assuming i get it to work :). and then i'll see if i can build the
ARSperl extension on it.
