no actual 'binary' is created. just a shared library ARS.so. the perl
executable knows how to load this in dynamically when you have 'use ARS;'
in a script.

perl 5.002 is still in beta. I can't find anything about
prototyping behavior in 5.001.

So it re-built ARS.o, but didn't link it into ARS.so. Try removing
blib/ and re-running make, or do 'make clean' to start fresh.
