Hi Thilo, Is this http://arswiki.org/projects/arapi/downloads site is down. Or the site url got changed? Regards, Ragini -----Original Message----- From: ars...@ar... [mailto:ars...@ar...] On Behalf Of Thilo Stapff Sent: Wednesday, April 09, 2008 6:29 PM To: ARSperl User Discussion Subject: Re: [Arsperl-users] ARSPerl-1.9 for remedy 7.1v on Solaris 10 It looks like you are trying to compile ARSperl against the 7.1 API, which doesn't work with ARSperl 1.90. ARSperl 1.90 can be compiled with the 7.0 API, which should run against a 7.1 server without problems. (If you don't have the libraries, you can download them from http://arswiki.org/projects/arapi/downloads). Alternatively you might download the developer version of ARSperl via CVS, which can be compiled with the ARS 7.1 API (See the section "Anonymous CVS Access" at http://sourceforge.net/cvs/?group_id=116013). I don't have any experience with 64 bit systems so I can only take a guess here. To me, the situation looks as follows: The Remedy API libraries are 32 bit, so ARSperl has to be compiled with -m32. Your Perl interpreter is 64 bit, so ARSperl would also have to be compiled as 64 bit, which of course collides with the condition above. A possible solution might be to compile a Perl interpreter with -m32 and use that one for ARSperl. I would not be concerned about the warnings if the actual code worked, but I
still keep getting the warings.
This time I tried -m32. But I still get the cast warnings.
How can I get rid of these?

I suspect that this would work only if the Perl interpreter was also
compiled as a 32-bit program.

That may fix that problem but the fact you're compiling on a 64 bit system might cause other issues. Last I heard the Remedy libraries are only available as 32 bit libraries. I never had luck compiling ARSPerl on a 64 bit system. But perhaps that's changed.

You can run both 32-bit and 64-bit programs on 64-bit linux. Compile
arsperl 32-bit by setting the CPPFLAGS to include -m32:
$ export CPPFLAGS="${CPPFLAGS} -m32"

Chris, In the Makefile you could remove references to "-malign-double" which seems to be causing your problem. That may fix that problem but the fact you're compiling on a 64 bit system might cause other issues. Last I heard the Remedy libraries are only available as 32 bit libraries. I never had luck compiling ARSPerl on a 64 bit system. But perhaps that's changed. Hello. I am trying to compile AREPerl-1.91 on Red Hat Enterprise Linux AS
release 4 update 3, 64bit. The building of the Makefile completes
successfully, but when I run the make, it bombs pretty quick. Searching the
mail archives, Googling the error and asking people that know more about
programming than me proved unsuccessful. The error is below and I will be
forever grateful for any help with this.

It's either a combination of perl and/or compiler. There's a flag in gcc to force it to 32 bit compilation, I don't recall what the flag name is. In perl I believe a perl -V will tell you if it is 32 or 64 bit. I do remember that Remedy libraries are only 32 bit libraries. I googled for "wrong ELF class: ELFCLASS32", and what I get from this is that the problem likely is about some kind of 64bit/32bit mismatch. Probably your perl interpreter is a 64bit version (the -D_FILE_OFFSET_BITS=64 compiler directive has to come from somewhere, but this is only guesswork) while the AR libraries are 32bit. Unfortunately I barely know anything about this kind of problem, but you might get a solution from googling for the error message yourself. I uploaded v1.91 to CPAN and SF so people won't have to go to CVS for it. jeff On May 6, 2008, at 1:35 PM, Thilo Stapff wrote: > It looks like you are trying to compile ARSperl against the 7.1 API > which doesn't work with ARSperl 1.90. > > > Alternatively you might download the developer version of ARSperl via > CVS, which can be compiled with the ARS 7.1 API >> >> |

It looks like you are trying to compile ARSperl against the 7.1 API which doesn't work with ARSperl 1.90. (I'm deducing this from the AR_SERVER_INFO_DB_MAX_ATTACH_SIZE constant in the error message; correct me if I'm wrong about this.) ARSperl 1.90 can be compiled with the 7.0 API, which should run against a 7.1 server without problems. Moreover, you'll have to change line 114 of Makefile.PL from $ARS_LIBS .= " -lpthread -licuuc -licui18n"; to $ARS_LIBS .= " -lpthread -licuucbmc -licui18nbmc"; Regards, Thilo Tom...@Ve... wrote: > Hi All, > > Trying to setup ARSperl 1.90. Subject: [Arsperl-users] Simple Query
I'm trying to run a simple query but I get this error every time:
"ctrl is not of type ARControlStructPtr"
Here is the script:
use ARS;
my $prodServer = "www";
my $arUser = "xxx";
my $arPassword = "yyy"
my $form = "zzz";
my $c = ars_Login($prodServer, $arUser, $arPassword, undef, undef, 20006,
undef);
my $qualString = q { 'Status' = "PENDING" AND 'Assign Group' = "SOC" } ;
my $qual = ars_LoadQualifier($c, $form, $qualString);
my @entry = ars_GetListEntry($c, $form, $qual, 0, 0);
Does anyone know what I'm doing wrong?
Thanks in advance,
Dave

I had already downloaded the APIs from arswiki and I changed the Makefile.PL Yea! The warnings came up but it did compile this time. thanks. What also worked is by passing an array instead of a string.
ars_SetEntry($ctrl, $schema, $record, 0, @updRemString)

The first (working) line is:
ars_SetEntry($ctrl, $schema, $record, 0, 536871244, 3)
The second (nonworking) lis:
ars_SetEntry($ctrl, $schema, $record, 0, $updRemString)
which is equivalent to:
ars_SetEntry($ctrl, $schema, $record, 0, "536871244, 3");
In other words, you are only passing five, instead of six, parameters.
The final parameter is
a single string parameter, instead of being two numeric parameters.
You could try this:
ars_SetEntry($ctrl, $schema, $record, 0, split(",", $updRemString) );

Hi: I trying to build a remedy incident update script which can be used to update different fields under different circumstances. In other words, what needs to be updated is provided as an argument to the script. So what I include as part of of the ars_SetEntry for update needs to be built dynamically within the script based on argument to the script. But I am running into issues. If I run the following statement, it updates the remedy incident fine ars_SetEntry($ctrl, $schema, $record, 0, 536871244, 3) || die "ars_SetEntry(User): $ars_errstr"; But if I set a variable $updRemString and run the ars_SetEntry, it gives me an error as shown below $updRemString = "536871244, 3" ars_SetEntry($ctrl, $schema, $record, 0, $updRemString) || die "ars_SetEntry(User): $ars_errstr"; Error: ars_SetEntry(User): [ERROR] Invalid number of arguments (ARERR #80000) at ./IncidentUpdProcess.sql line 75. Any suggestions. Thanks Ravi |

A while ago there was a thread on the list about crashes with ars_CreateEntry. Go to http://sourceforge.net/mailarchive/forum.php?forum_name=arsperl-users and search for "ars_CreateEntry crashing on windows" (including the quote characters). You might want to try the solution suggested by John Unsworth.
