It looks like arsperl doesn't find the libicu*bmc.so libraries. The directory where those libraries are located should probably be added to LD_LIBRARY_PATH. However, after fixing that, you might run into a different problem. As far as I know, compiling against the 64bit API on Linux produces a totally non-working binary, which seems to be a problem of compiling anything against the API together with Perl libraries. This has beem by acknowledged by BMC as a product defect (SW00330613). Any progress regarding this issue probably depends solely on BMC. I know this topic has come up a few times; but where does 1.91-HEAD stand wrt supporting x86_64 ? i know some of the work-around's are to compile perl32, etc. Just curious if it's even possible with the 7.5 api. So far i've gotten to (with the HEAD 1.92 and 7.5): # perl -e 'use ARS' Can't load '/usr/lib64/perl5/site_perl/5.8.8/x86_64-linux-thread-multi/ auto/ARS/ARS.so' for module ARS: /usr/lib64/perl5/site_perl/5.8.8/ x86_64-linux-thread-multi/auto/ARS/ARS.so: undefined symbol: u_toupper_3_2 at /usr/lib64/perl5/5.8.8/x86_64-linux-thread-multi/ DynaLoader.pm line 230. at -e line 1 Compilation failed in require at -e line 1. BEGIN failed--compilation aborted at -e line 1. Just wondering if it's one of those "never gonna happen"; or "soon". -- Wes http://claimid.com/wesyoung |

Hi Karlo, I don't think ARS 7.5 is supported by ARSPerl 1.91, and I don't think you'll be able to compile arsperl against the 7.5 libraries. You should, however, be able to compile it against 7.1 libraries and then run your scripts against your 7.5 server (with only 7.1 features supported as per the product compatability doco). This means that you'll need to keep your 7.1 .dll, .so, etc library files on your AR Server, or wherever you're running the perl scripts from. This post on the sourceforge site has some additional information in the 'comments' section: http://sourceforge.net/tracker/index.php?func=detail&aid=2877182&group_id=116013&atid=673428 Regards Joel Guttenberg ________________________________ From: Karlo Parulan Sent: Fri 20/11/2009 10:54 AM To: ars...@ar... Were there any warnings thrown during the make process? From my previous experience, I think it didnt find some libraries(-licuucbmc -licui18nbmc) it was supposed to. These are the libicuucbmc.so and libicui18nbmc.so files. Ensure they are on your LD_LIBRARY_PATH, or copy them to the $ARAPI path. hth, ~H On Fri, Nov 13, 2009 at 2:39 PM, Lane Vance <la...@ab...> wrote: > We are running Remedy 7.5. It looks like most of the syntax errors are caused by C++ style comments in supportrev.c (i.e. //... instead of /* .... */). I don't know if this applies to your AIX/xlc version, but there seems to be a -qcpluscmt compiler flag to handle this. Just google for "xlc qcpluscmt". Moreover, try changing line 3356 of "support.c" from int dt = in->tag - AR_FIELD_OFFSET; to unsigned int dt = in->tag - AR_FIELD_OFFSET; and line 1242 of "supportrev.c" from int len; to STRLEN len; I'll also check in an update to the CVS repository on Sourceforge, which will have these issues fixed. Thanks, Rusty -- I should have mentioned in my post that I had tried setting $name to an integer and I still get the same error. Thanks, Jim |

This is probably a message defined in a filter somewhere (since the
message number is 10000).
I suppose that when you select a "Ticket Owner" in the Remedy client,
other fields are probably set as well (invisible to the user).
You might want to do an active link/filter log of that action to see
what really happens behind the scenes.

Thilo

If I remember my ARSperl correctly you need to figure out the "Ticket Owner" field id and $name needs to be translated from the name of the value to the menu entry id. For instance if the ticket owner pulldown looks like this
0: tom
1: dick
2. george
and you wanted to assign the ticket to george then $name should equal 2. I believe this is how this is supposed to work. It's been a while since I worked with ARSperl.
Hope it helps,
Rusty

Subject: [Arsperl-users] Trouble Setting Drop Down Menu Items with ARSperl
I'm trying to set the value of a Drop Down menu in Remedy (in this case
"Ticket Owner" like so:
my $ars = new ARS (
-server => $server,
-username => $username,
-password => $password
);
my $form = $ars->openForm (-form => $schema);
$form->set(
-entry => $eid,
-gettime => 0,
-value => {
"Ticket Owner" => $name,
}
)
When I try this I get this error:
[ERROR] (Ticket Owner is not valid. Please select a value from the
drop down.) (ARERR #10000)
I can set them from the remedy client, but not from ARSperl -- does anyone
know the right way to set this?
Thanks,

Hi all, here comes arXtract, another ARS workflow analyzer in the tradition of ARSdoc. It's Perl-based and stores its data in ARS forms – enabling you to find virtually ANYTHING you want to know about your ARS code. Just search for arbitray keywords using Remedy User Tool or MidTier. arXtract's data structure combined with the ARS clients' advanced search function will give you an unprecedented insight into your ARS application. ARS workflow is presented as pseudocode enabling you to "read" your workflow as if it was – well, imagine some kind of ARS scripting language. Before you expect too much, let me answer the obvious question: arXtract translates ARS workflow into human-readable pseudocode. It does not, conversely, compile that pseudocode into ARS workflow. Not yet. Well, just try it out. You will need a licensed ARS server as you'll probably have more than 2000 workflow objects (also counting forms and fields) to be documented. The freeware version of arXtract can be downloaded from http://www.apprologic.com Have fun and kind regards, Thilo Stapff ApproLogic GmbH Waldstr. 92 D-63128 Dietzenbach Phone: +49 6074 4811814 Fax: +49 6074 4811816 EMail: thi...@ap... |

Thilo, That is what was happening in this instance, using a hash. Thanks for the tip. -----Original Message----- From: Thilo Stapff [mailto:thi...@ap...] Sent: Sunday, July 12, 2009 11:53 AM To: ARSperl User Discussion Subject: Re: [Arsperl-users] 1.90 - Query Sort The ars_GetListEntry function has those parameters too. Moreover, if no such parameters are passed, the sort order of the form should indeed be used. I once made the mistake of putting the return values from ars_GetListEntry into a hash, which has the effect that the sorting information gets lost, even if the entries are returned in the correct order: %entries = ars_GetListEntry( ... ); Thilo Brad Fike wrote: > LJ, > > Long time no talk. > > I normally sort the records on my own but you can use the > ars_GetListEntryWithFields function. The reason I wasn't getting the sort was because the result set was being put in a hash instead of an array, and there's a note in the docs tat says the only way to retain the sort returned by Remedy is by putting it in an array. I converted it using the example in the docs and it works perfectly. The table of contents at http://arsperl.sourceforge.net/manual/toc.html does not represent in any way the current status of the arsperl manual. See http://arsperl.cvs.sourceforge.net/viewvc/*checkout*/arsperl/ARSperl/html/manual/toc.html?revision=1.29 for an up-to-date version. To build web services via arsperl, I'd probably do this: - Create a web service in the admin tool - Retrieve the corresponding arsperl data structure via ars_GetContainer - Create a readable output of the structure with e.g. Data::Dumper - Use this structure as basis for the input to ars_CreateContainer Regards, Thilo Carey Matthew Black wrote: > Marc, > > If you are going to create an ARS Web Service Object ( So that ARS > will publish an Web Services interface for other applications to talk > to.) then you will be creating an ARS Container. Marc, If you are going to create an ARS Web Service Object ( So that ARS will publish an Web Services interface for other applications to talk to.) then you will be creating an ARS Container. ARS Containers are a super set object that comprise ARS Applications, ARS Web Services, ARS Guides( Filter and Active Link), and PackingLists too. So you are going to need to use the C API command: ARCreateContainer. Note: This is a very different task than getting ARSystem to call some other applications Web Service. I know that the ARSPerl manual is more than a bit out of date, but after reviewing (http://arsperl.sourceforge.net/manual/toc.html) I do not see this function as being implemented at all in ARSPerl. Maybe it is implemented and not yet documented, but I doubt that will help you much. I have yet to have a need to make an ARS Web Service object from any of the API's. So I poked around for 10 minutes and here is what I see: After reviewing the C and Java API docs (for 7.1) I would suggest that you use the Java API. The Java API looks like there is at least some detail (Although not much there either) that might help you along your way. However you have a fair amount of detective work to do no matter which API language you select. You likely need to pay attention to these constants: ARCON_* (specifically ARCON_WEBSERVICE = 5) ARREF_WS_* And likely others too. I think your best bet is to manually create a Web Service (or 10) and export their def files in XML format. That should help you to see what properties are being set by the Admin Tool and should help you decipher the poorly documented C and Java APIs. You might even want to ask BMC Tech Support if you have specific questions about an API property too. But I doubt they will be of much help. For what it is worth: I was able to make a "non-functional" ARS web service by using the v7.1 JavaDriver. If I could find what properties I needed to set I bet I could even create a working WebService with that client too. So you may want to work out how to feed a command file to the JavaDriver and not have to know any (or almost any) Java too. ( You may also be able to use the "driver", written with the C API tool too.) I'm fairly new to ARSperl and I am writing an integration interface to "Remedy" systems. Part of this interface would be a wsdl that could be used to create a Remedy Web Service. Does anyone know how to create either the *.wsdl file or a definition file (xml or .def) that would contain the definition for the Remedy web service. More Details: I will be given a list of fields from a specific form on a server Using that information, my script would log into the Remedy server and capture necessary data about each field Using the captured data, the script would then generate a .wsdl file, or a definition file (xml or .def) that contained the definition for the wsdl I guess I could just use an existing WSDL file as a template.... but thought I'd ask the experts if there was a better way first. -- Marc Simmons Remedy Administrator "Everyday above ground is a good day... the rest is a choice!" |

So do you have things working now? How are you handling this?
Has anybody packaged "semi-official" .deb packages of the Remedy
API and/or ARSperl? If not, I'd be happy to work with others to create
something.
