Hi, Here are my first 50 papercuts. All have been confirmed with the 2011-10-26 ABIv0 pc-i386 nightly. - C:Date should use DOS format for output. - C:List doesn't move on to a new line at end of output if directory contains one file, which is empty (because block count is zero?). - C:Copy make user click Cancel twice when source is non-existent volume. - C:Copy returns without an error code when source is non-existent volume. - Editor: filename on first tab is italicised when two files are given as CLI arguments. - C:FileNote doesn't report all errors, e.g. ERROR_COMMENT_TOO_BIG, and sets an error of "no more entries in directory" upon successful completion. - After relabeling a partition, old name (or a junk name) is shown by C:Info in volume list. - C:Type prints "Can't open <filename>" and "error 5" when Ctrl-C'd. - C:Echo doesn't print errors. - C:Mount reports missing keywords when a mount entry can't be found. - C:Info shows headings for skipped devices when BLOCKS argument is used (e.g. PIPEFS). - In Input prefs, selected keyboard isn't available for use in test box until Test button is pressed. - Editor restores old protection flags when saving a file, even if they have changed in the meantime. - When an empty file is opened with multiview, it responds with "required argument missing", or nothing. - C:Copy should perhaps be more informative than "file not copied". - C:SetDate doesn't work recursively with ALL switch. - LocStrToDate() (or a related function) accepts days with extra trailing characters, eg. yesterdayyyy. - LocStrToDate() (or a related function) accepts month names longer than three characters, eg. 21-Marr-2011. - LocStrToDate() (or a related function) accepts month names shorter than three characters, 21-Ap-2011. - ParseDate()'s handling of AM/PM is a mess that will fail in several scenarios. - List should show "Future" for future dates (AOS practice, but check docs). - When unmatched quotes are used in the shell, an "unknown error 100" message is printed along with an apparently null string pointer. - Glyphs in fixed width fonts are aligned to the left. - C:Copy copies files over empty directories. E.g: Makedir Stack Copy C:S#? "" - C:Path REMOVE doesn't work. - C:Version prints an extra blank line when FULL option is used and no copyright string is present. - ReadArgs() doesn't show template after a question mark when some arguments are also supplied. - ReadArgs() accepts keyword without value. Also, eg. "Version name=c:copy name name=c:sort" gives "bad template". - C:Search sometimes prints same line number twice, e.g. "search c:zip error". - Autogenerated version strings in shell commands have invalid date format. - Filename completion doesn't work when > or >> is prepended to a filename. - Window/screen titles aren't shown after font size is changed when decoration is active. - C:Copy returns without an error when disk is full. - ASL file requester never shows .info files? - Up to four colons are accepted after a DOS device name, e.g.: "List CD2::::". - Write-protected requester is never shown. - obtainpentest messes up pens used by Wanderer, intuition etc. - "File is not executable" instead of "Out of memory". - Time prefs: hour/minute/second boxes keep changing when user is trying to type in them. - CDVDFS crashes if filename passed to it is too long (FIB limit related?). - Clicking RMB doesn't lead to volume list in ASL file requester. - Clicking in AC97 driver. - The portion of lines that wrap around can't be seen when the shell is scrolled up. - Multiview: AmigaGuide display sometimes goes blank when Retrace is used. - Nouveau: when screen is dragged down, the previous contents of the compositing buffer make a brief appearance. - VESA: Junk is sometimes left behind when changing mouse pointer (e.g. in IControl when hovering over Drag Keys box). - Menu key can't be used as R-Amiga on USB keyboards. - C:Copy deletes destination file if source drive can't be found, e.g. "Copy x:wgetcfg env:". - Shutdown button should be disabled in pc-i386. - AROS should be installable from a USB stick that has two partitions. Regards, Neil |

I just checked - category is also selectable during bug creation, so people could abuse that as well - I guess its up to us to "clear" paper cut marker in that case. I checked the current categories and their are mostly about "area" of AROS (like GUI/Intuition or Kernel/Exec) so I'm not sure adding "Paper Cuts" there would fit after all :( So, do we stick with keyword in summary of bug or do you have another idea? :) BTW, when do you think we could go "public"? Hi team! We might also have a look at the bug tracker, there might be some things there that can be handled by the team. I have a small cosmetic thing that I've corrected once in my repository : The Gadtool palette gadget isn't optimally using the given space if the number of entries is not a power of 2. (can be seen in AmiFIG) Yannick Le 26/10/2011 21:14, Timothy Deters a écrit : > The list from Neil would be a great help. Resending. Note: the list is public - no passwords, etc ;) Hi All, As promised, more info The email is quite long, but stay with me ============================================== Goal: Fix as much AROS paper cuts as we can (100 would be great) Paper Cut == bug, misbehaving or missing functionality that make AROS experience worse during daily usage and which can be fixed relatively quick "Port MOS OWB to AROS" is NOT a paper cut In case of doubt we will discuss case by case. ============================================== Team: Krzysztof, Neil, Marcus, Jason, Yannick - Development & Testing. We can of course work on other topics in our AROS-time, but some portion of it should be committed to this project Tim - Community Management Tim's role will be to build and maintain the communication with users as well as filling devs' work log with their reports. Devs can of course talk to users too Tim's role is more of a facilitator. ============================================== Communication - I will set up mailing list shortly over at SF.net ============================================== Work organization - AROS Bug tracker @ SF.net a) Tim fills out a bug in AROS bug tracker b) Interested developer picks it up and assigns himself, so other don't grab this task c) When done, developers closes the bug, Tim gets notification, notifies community ============================================== Time frame: November + December - then I would like us to decide if we want to continue the project or not ============================================== Code lines: fixes go to both V0 and V1 ============================================== What's next: First if you have any remarks to what I have written, please "reply to all" In the meantime Tim will be preparing "press release" and communication channels with users. Once he is ready, we can start Tim - Neil mentioned that he already has a list of some of the paper cuts he would like to get fixed. This might fuel our initial work. Best regards, Krzysztof |
