Hi all, I'm not a subscriber to this mailing list, hope you don't mind keeping me in the loop explicitly :-) I've been going over armedbear cl lately, and it looks very cool, a useful tool in its own right. I'm involved in projects here that would probably find it very useful. However, armedbear and j are both licensed under the GPL. That makes them difficult to use, as anything else built on top of them would also need to be open-sourced. (I'm fairly certain of this interpretation, but if you think I have it wrong I would appreciate it if you could tell me how...) Is there any chance you might reconsider the licensing terms, at least of the armedbear cl portion? Loosening up the licensing might invite many more users, and help with further development of the CL. It is unlikely that we shall be able to release our software as open source, and we would really like to see armedbear as an option for building applications on top of a JVM. Thanks! Sunil |
