scenario - i start to use the "recent files" dialog but
never select any file to open...
then, with the above dialog open try dragging a file on to
the edit space ( normally the drag/drop results in the file
result - application goes into a state where it thinks it
needs a response in a modal window or something ...
then application freezes
platform - Win2k SP1
As reported, this is a Windows-specific problem. When I tried to
reproduce it under VMware, j did indeed seem to freeze, as did the
Explorer window from which the drop was initiated. J did correctly
reject the drop (as indicated by the no-drop cursor), however. After
killing j with the Task Manager and reorganizing things a bit, I found
a modal dialog, hiding under the Explorer window, that was waiting for
me to specify what application to use to open the file I had just
attempted to drop on j.
Maybe this behavior makes sense, maybe not, but in any case I don't
think it can be attributed to a bug in j. J does appear to reject
drops correctly when the recent files dialog is open, as it should,
and it's not j's fault that the dialog Windows puts up in response to
this situation gets buried under another window.
So I've closed this bug. But please feel free to complain if I've
missed the point.
