Sometimes multiple-file searches take longer than you'd like, or you see what you're looking for and would like to stop the search before it scrolls offscreen.

Solution: A one-button dialog box that appears in the middle of the split-window *opposite* the search results window, that says "Stop Search" or some such.

P.S. - J is a simply awesome piece of software. Many thanks!

You can use the command "escape", mapped by default to the
Escape key, to cancel a search in progress. This has been
    supported for a long time.

This feature is now documented in
    doc/commands.html#findInFiles, and an unobtrusive message
("Press Escape to cancel search") is displayed in the status
bar while the search is in progress.

These changes are in tonight's development snapshot:

    http://armedbear.org/j.zip (source and
    documentation)
    http://armedbear.org/j-jar.zip (just j.jar)
