Hello Jim What you have done seems very interesting indeed, im waiting to test your new jar file. Anyway a flag don't really exist for what I know, exept the naming and placing of the maps... we have all the interior maps in a folder called interiors, and it could easerly be added so that the extra image don't apply to those maps I belive... well maybe you could call that a form of "flag" thou I guess...
