I try it before and it was full of annoyance...=20 Sorry, what was of annoyance? I told SkyFlash he would have to do checkout under linux, as he was trying to compile version copied from windows - with different line endin= gs. Do you mean checking out of cvs is hard? It is just one commmand, when we will have package, you won't even need it. Arianne is still alpha,=20 and changing really fast now, so making any packages for now is useless. > downloading I dont remember how much libs until to fill my disk. Hmmm, so you should have only downloaded the one needed... > I was requesting to make a full independent package (with all necessary= =20 > libs) and it was also a request from Miguel. Sorry, but it's not really possible, it's even very very hard to make a binary package for *nix systems, because of different and sometimes not compatible libraries. The packaging system on linux is made to not distribute always all nedeed files, and that's why we are using already made libs, and not writing our own. > I'm being insistent very much about this: all linux users arent wizzard= ,=20 > and there are more and more end users without a skill of devlopper. Yes, I agree. But using packaging system is really, really easy, you does no have to be some guru, to issue just one command. Second, compiling Arianne under Linux require now to use 2 commands - autogen.sh and make, and that's all. Yes, it can fails, as makefiles are only 5 days old. I will upgrade them with time to make it compile on most systems without user ingeration (even now it should work on at least half of possible configurations). --=20 Grzegorz "Silk" Soba=F1ski http://www.userfriendly.org silk (at) poznan.telbank.pl =20 Experience is what you get=20 when you don't get what you want. |
