Hi, Colby, >I've decided to continue on with just using regular SDL for the game play >screen, it may take a bit longer, but it is soooooo much faster. The meters ><...> I see. Helps me alot, for I can't port ParaGUI to Mac yet :( I want to see what it's like to be as soon as possible ( I mean codes ), so that I can check if I can make it run on Mac. Hi, I think that the first gui with the meters was commited to the CVS so you might try that, the one i'm working on now will be about the same, just a tad bit more compact. Yes, It is on the CVS as I commited it. Anyway keep on it. I will try to do an EventManager and later build the GUI on the top of it. -- Miguel Angel Blanch Lardin -- http://www.arianne.cx -- Arianne -- The free open source massively multiplayer online role playing game nuclear cia fbi spy password code encrypt president bomb iran irak korea cuba Echelon must die |

I've been strugling with ParaGUI... Today I've tried the new codes ( I don't think they are the latest, but sure there are new GUI codes ), and it seems work somehow... Actually there are some other things ( probably networking ..?) and I can't say for sure, but I could see the meters and hear the sound. Hi all, I'm pretty new here but would love to contribute in some way (programmer from way back, also write SF/Fantasy novels in my spare time :-) Just some quick questions in regards to the proposed GUI for Arianne: 1) Will it be 3D 2) If it will be 3D has anyone considered using the Crystal Space 3D graphics rendering engine? Found it on Sourceforge, seems to support all the platforms (haven't had a look for all of them yet)? Looks like awesome stuff, but may not be relevant to the style of game we are after. We are going for a 2d and 3d system simultaneously, working mainly on the 2d stuff right now(isometric). The crystal space engine is in consideration, again we're working on the 2d stuff mainly, but yes it does look very good. > Looks like awesome stuff, but may not be relevant to the style of game we > are after. Welcome to the crew. I hope you find the act of creation as enjoyable, even if it is trying at times, as the rest of us. I am working mainly on the RP system, the RP docs on the site. If you have any questions or feedback regarding this please ask or critisize, generally we take criticism well(depending on our moods ;) ) I'm sure Miguel and everyone else will give a hearty welcome as well, when they have time, seems our time comes and goes in cycles. Please review all of the docs, be careful some of the 0.3 stuff is totally out of date. Again Welcome, Brian Thompson |

To be sincere, I am coding a Top view 2D client, but doing it isometric only requieres to change a method of a class, that is the one that show the GFX. I think that the 3D case is the same. -- Miguel Angel Blanch Lardin -- http://www.arianne.cx -- Arianne -- The free open source massively multiplayer online role playing game nuclear cia fbi spy password code encrypt president bomb iran irak korea cuba Echelon must die |

Well, All the GUI are 2D. But anyway Crystal Space has a GUI lib inside. We are now working on a 2D client using SDL. We also want to do a 3D client, but I won't code it until we finish more or less the 2D client, someone said he would do it on CrystalSpace, but he didn't. So if you think that you can do it I will help you as much as possible. Really I think that there isn't too much work on making a client with CrystalSpace, but if I branch and start to work on both platforms it is going to be a real waste of time/effort. My priority now is to lower the server CPU time, and to optimize the client. Also do a some classes. -- Miguel Angel Blanch Lardin -- http://www.arianne.cx -- Arianne -- The free open source massively multiplayer online role playing game nuclear cia fbi spy password code encrypt president bomb iran irak korea cuba Echelon must die |

Ok i've got draggable images now!!! I've thinking about how to make them dock to the sides or other features of the interface. As soon as i figure out how to fix the bug that makes it crash when you drag it outside the viewing area i'll release it with my button and meter code. And when you do ( by mistake in code ), it crashes, too. I think if the window is about to go out of the screen, you can make it dock to that side of the screen. Well it's not pretty, though, but easier, I think. Ok draggable is out of the question for now, if I add the code to keep it from leaving the screen it sends the game into an endless loop of nothingness, and if i take it out it crashes as soon as you drag it out of the screen. I think maybe if we had several predefined settings or even maybe customizable in a script it would be fine. But i've all but given up on draggable. Ok i've created a box you can type in, but it has a couple of bugs (such as it kills the program after you hit enter). I was going to wait till i got done with it before i released my code (I understand Miguel is waiting on it), but i do have the meters, buttons, and an easy to use image function. It isn't much, and sure isn't impressive code, but it works, and it is extremely fast compared to paragui. Any one that wants to work on it or just take a look e-mail me. I've been working on getting my functions back in order. I've got a new zip drive on the way also, but it will be 2 weeks before it gets here. If you would send me your graphics, and tell me what parts are for what, i can start to accually put something together that looks like an interface. right now i just have bits and peices. Sorry, but who are you talking to? I have done a few basics and will email you them directly, but I know that Adam Watson has been working on an interface as well. Both are pretty basic, mine is floating and his is fixed, but I've been working on symbols for the buttons as well. If you want some of what I've got I'll send it. Brian Thompson |

Both ideas are usable. Adam's one is just an static interface where to place menus and data about the game, and Brian's one is one to control the game to make actions and thinks like that. I think that both should be used. BTW Anyone have seen the radial interface of Neverwinter night( or whatever it call). |

A paranoia coming from my line of work :) So I created an anonymous account to download from. By the time everyone reads this I will have the graphics files uploaded. ftp://arianne-gnome.sourceforge.net/pub/arianne-gnome/graphics Although the GNOME compliant part is now on hold as I start digging into the CVS source. Also I have been studying the UpdateWorld.cpp in src/common/ and I think I may have a solution to the sliding character thing. Is anyone else working on this. I don't want to screw up any one elses work :) Adam _________________________________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free E-mail from MSN Hotmail at http://www.hotmail.com.
