It appears the I am not the only one who has been bitten by the a non-running
server. I have tracked the problem down to a call in the ctor of the
Connection *con = new Connection;
con->connect( db.c_str(), host.c_str(), user.c_str(), passwd.c_str());
the call to connect() throws an exception, which results in a
bad_alloc-exception (the bad_alloc is thrown when a ctor fails for some
reason, a failed malloc() or an uncought exception, as in this case, being
Since I have no idea how to debug this, I am thinking of implementing a
workaround that simply reads the user-data from a text-file. This is also
interesting since g++3.0 and maybe other strict compilers (Codewarrior on
Mac?) refuse to compile an unpatched version of mysql++.
Minami, you where working replacing the mysql++stuff with native
mysl-library-calls, how far are you ?
