I'm interested in extending the marauroa server. I was wondering which version of the server code I should start with to make a patch?

The patch would extend the server to be data source independent.

I saw someone else is interested in the hibernate angle. Has that made it into the codebase?

        No.
Anyway, please, have a look at the persistence code, it is the biggest class, but code is really simple.
The fact is that it hide completely the database stuff from game.

I won't mind to do changes on the design if they prove to be for good.

I looked at the code and noticed that it seems to be tied to using a database. I'm interested in possibly in using a knowledgebase for persistence, which doesn't use SQL transactions. I'm currently modifying the code to use a standard J2EE DAO pattern, which should take care of that. That way if someone wants to use Hibernate, JIProlog, XML, or combinations of them all, whatever, it shouldn't matter.

Is the unstable branch tagged as 1.9.1?

Ok, I would love to have a look at the code.
On the other hand, most of the times you can live with Marauroa as it and do the change where it is needed, that it is usually at the game level code.

      against marauroa cvs please.
You can find a stendhal version working with it at cvs.
