#5520 moving endlessy


when i was moving north left and right arrow didn't stop it , just moved few squares horizontally and still was moving north , only vertical direction key ( up down) stopped this.
endless moving don't stop when i hit a wall , i see moving animation and when use left right key , only key in same or opposite direction stop it

did it twice in north direction and once east and south direction today within one hour however i don't know how to repeat it

    I can't reproduce this scenario (maybe it was fixed in the mean time).
    But there is a case that reproduces all the time:
    - click on a destination point; your character starts walking
    - before the character reaches the destination, click on an inaccessible point, either on the screen or on the mini-map.
    - the character will keep walking until you press an arrow key or click on another destination point

    What it sounds like you're describing is a trick I use all the time to get around. While pressing a direction click out of the client and you'll move endlessly in that direction until you go back into the client and press the same or opposite direction. As you've noted you can even steer with the other two directions,

    Personally I really don't want to see this little convenience get removed.

    The behaviour reported by Balaur is slightly different than the trick using arrow keys (which indeed has been kept because many players like to use it). This one happens when player is following a path, and then tries to get another path, but fails. I think this is probably done mostly by accident, when the player wants to adjust the destination a bit, or pick one that was outside the minimap before.

    I see two reasonable possibilities:

    1. Keep the old destination. This has the downside that the player probably thinks that a destination was picked successfully, and only notices that it wasn't when the character walks to the old destination.

    2. Stop walking. This could be slightly annoying sometimes, but has the good side that the player notices immediately that getting a new path failed.

    Personally I like 2. more. Other opinions are welcome.

    The walking bug/feature is one that I use as well. But, I still consider it a bug and would like to fix it. Not until I have set up an actual feature for auto-walking though.

    I believe there is another bug report that is a duplicate of this. I will reference it if I find it.
