Hello,
i wanted to order a PCB at jlcpcb.com with all the resistors and diodes assembled. For that (as far as i understand this) i need a BOM-File. In the Gerber-Files-Folder it says that there should be BOM files aswell, but i can't find them anywhere. Could anybody be so kind and tell me where i could find the BOM Files for the ULN2003 and the DRV8825 PCBs?
Cheers
Phil

Hi Phil
I would have thought that was going to be pretty expensive. They would probably need to create a solder mask as well.
There is no BOM file. If I generated one it would be useless because many of the items actually use headers (2pin/3pin) rather than placed on the board, which the BOM file would show as headers and not sensors, and I did not design the board in Eagle etc. I was trying very hard to keep costs to a minimum for users.
If one was going to that amount of effort then using smd devices would be the preferred way to go,
So only the parts lists are available for each board type. Please drop me a private email at either yahoo or gmail. I have a few assembed units that might be of interest, but I am in NZ so shipping costs are not cheap - export goods require customs codes and subject to shipping rules.

Robert

Hi Robert, thank you for your answer and all your work on this project. I was a bit irritated because it says:
GERBER FILES FOR MAKING PCB
These folders contain
Parts List
Schematic BOM
Gerber files
for each of the driver boards.
When I checked out the posibility of ordering a PCB with the resistors and capicitators and stuff the costs for "SMT assembley" at jlcpcb were 8 Dollars + prices per part. So... not a big deal. As far as I understand this, the SMT assembley could be a good way to provide the PCB fully assemled even to people with low or no skills in soldering, it even could save people from ordering some single parts online or order a bunch of resistors when only a hand full of them are needed.
So I personally would really appreciate BOM-Files for the PCB.
Last let me say this: I am absolutly new to this stuff. Could be that i understand all this PCB-ordering-and-SMT-assembly-stuff completly wrong . So if i talk rubbish here, please.... could anybody let me know! ;)
Thanks a lot again best regards from Germany.
Phil

I am not sure what you refer to when SMT - normally this refers to Surface Mount Technology.
The existing PCB is not, and does not support SMT components.
It was designed old school because most people - DIY - would not have the tools etc to build SMT designed boards and mount components (in SMT components are normally flow soldered requiring the use of a solder mask).
So what that means is the existing board would need to be redesigned to use SMT components.
