I've decided to go with the 17HS13-0404S-PG27 stepper. My scope is an Orion 8" astrograph, F=3.9
Focuser linear travel = 12.7mm per revolution
Going over the calculations:
CFZ = 3.9^2*2.2 = 33.5um
12700um per rev / 5373 steps per rev = 2.4um per step
33.5um / 2.4um per step = 14 steps within the CFZ
So I'm assuming I should go with full step mode?
If so, should I turn off the coils while idle?
THanks,
Rick

Depends if you get slippage when OTA is pointed to Zenith. If you can see slippage in the focuser then leave Coil Power on else, yes, it can be left off for Full steps.
