Hello all,
I've been running a myfocuserpro 2 with GREAT success, getting beautiful curves and focus throughout my last few nights, running DRV8825 and stepper14 motor, temperature probe etc... thank you so much Robert for putting together such a great little device and detailed information on how to put it together.
Bluetooth works great too and allows me to spare one cable between mini PC and focuser. However, it keeps disconnecting after a few minutes with no activity and is hence not suitable to run on automated nights. Any idea if that can be solved or if I have to rely on USB cable only fo r this ? I looked into windows 10 power consumption or power management, but didn't get a solution there. Any idea where I look into ?
Many thanks. Franck.
If your Bluetooth is a USB dongle type
edit power settings
advanced power settings
turn off suspend etc
see attached - I disable everything that wants to turn off and set everything to maximum performance.
Some of these settings can also be in the System BIOS. if you lnow about these things then look there, if that is something that you are not familiar with, dont change them. Mine has similar settings like suspend for usb ports, serial port at the bios level, and low power wifi modes (again disabled) in my bios.
try to keep WiFi traffic on the same computer low, because WiFi and Bluetooth use the same WiFi channel bands, however, WiFi tends to use 1 channel (and will move to another if the network traffic is high), bluetooth likes to hop about all over the place. No watching streaming movies on the same computer that you are using to manage the focuser controller.
If you are using the windows app you can enable logging, and set position update to 5 or 10s, This helps keep the connection alive,
If using ASCOM, then most applications will query the controller every second or every two seconds (that is just the way the devleopers wrote that software), so one cannot do anything about anything because you are at the mercy of the application developer.
Thanks for your attempt to solve my problem. Still getting brilliant focus
curves (via usb), but no luck with stable bluetooth connection. May have
look into bios indeed. Thanks. Franck.

Would like to see a snapshot of your focus curves if possible?
Hello Robert,
