i have a problem with the solderless focuser with the nema17-pg27 and drv8825.
Inside the house it works very fine. The motor is strong. Outside the motor doesn't work. It makes noise but doesn't run. I think, that the problem is the temperature outside. Yesterday we had about 0 degrees outside.
Does anyone have the same issue. Is there a Idea to solve it?
Best regards and CS

Hi kater
I had heard of failure at -14 degrees, but that was fixed ages ago, was a software bug, so I do know that the units can work reliably down past -20c
That motor should have zero issues moving things - but you did not say what telescope, focuser, imaging train you are trying to move.
Look for things that are unique between indoor and outdoor. Power, 12V, etc. What equipment or power or cable etc changes between inside and outside
For stepper motor issues
check riring between drv8825 and arduino for DIR, ENABLE, STEP
check wiring from stepper motor to drv8825 board, a loose wire?
check 12V connection to drv8825 board, without a good 12V to the drv8825 board it will not move, but may make some noise, 12v supply should be rated at minimum of 3A
Make sure that Fast Speed value is not so low that the motor cannot move. If fast value is too low, it will make noise and not move. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d5wK81s87Lg
Make sure the FOCUS LOCK on the telescope is not tight.
