I am curious to know why it is that you advise that unipolar motors (such as the Hurst motor used by Moonlite) can not be used with the DRV8825 driver, when the documentation on the Pololu website (https://www.pololu.com/product/2133/faqs) states that unipolar motors can be used if the centre tap wires are left un connected.
I admit that on the Moonlite focuser both of the centre tap wires are connected to pin 5 of the DB9, which would probably cause issues with the DRV8825, but if those wires were disconnected the requirements stated by Pololu would be met.
