I am in process of building a custom PCB with DRV8825 stepper controller. All my files will be shared once finished.
I have been looking for the schematic of the latest revision and have found the document "BOARD OPTION PCB REV4 DRV8825 HW203.PDF" which contains the schematic for Rev4 of the board. Few questions about the schematic for Rev4 (page 2 of the mentioned PDF):
1. In Rev3 we have a 1M pull-down resistor R4 for push buttons. In Rev4 this resistor (R8) is connected to VCC instead of GND, i.e. it is a pull-up resistor instead of pull-down. Is this a mistake in Rev4 schematic?
2. In Rev4 schematic the DRV8825 wiring looks all messed up. For example, the STEP and DIR pins are connected to VCC, VMOT is going to D8 etc. Must be a mistake???
Otherwise thank you for this wonderful project!!!
Luke

Hi Luke
The PCB is fine. It does work and I have built 1.
The schematic looks all messed up because there was no eagle cad part for the DRV8825 and all the pins were all over the place - the schematic looks wrong but the pcb is correct. Those early versions are not recommended and were long since replaced. With such a large project with so many generations and changes its just not possible to sometimes delete stuff as users have built them in the past and often request the files, so they were just left there.
Because of this and all the other issues with previous versions, we standardized on the fritzing pcb boards. This way everything matches and they are all essentially the same. And they work without issue.
In relation to the push button 1M resistor. We now use a pull-down.
Andre Mesquita made a PCB board for the DRV8825 with temperature probe and that is still available on the site somewhere.
Regards
Robert

I looked but I did not see any Fritzing files on Sourceforge. That's why I started working with the schematics from the PDFs to make my own PCB (using Kicad).
My plan is to make a single board that can run both of my focusers (L293D for the unipolar Moonlite stepper + DRV8825 for the bipolar stepper as it has advantages over L293D). Both boards are quite similar so it is easy to add few more parts instead of making another board and selectivelly populate them.
Cheers,
Luke

Hi Luke
The PCB boards available are on-line for ordering. They may be a little expensive, but they have too things going for them.
1. They work
2. All profits are donated to charity

I'll make an effort to update and revise.
