I'm in the process of gathering parts and wanting to put together myFocuser2 as a full build with LCD screen. The screens arrived today. I have the PCB's from Aisler and the Nano's are here as well.
The question that's on my mind is that there's no mention of a suitable box to put the circuits in. For the build that I'm doing, I'm planning on having the 2 push buttons, the LCD a connector for power and one for the motor, as well as the USB port on the focuser, which will connect to a hub.
My question is, what's the best project box to put the project into? I did like the look of the clearish one in the video, but don't know the dimenions or anything. Also is there a video showing the practical part of this build?
If you would like to refer to this comment somewhere else in this project, copy and paste the following link:
There is not a video showing how to put it into a case though. Having a look through the folder Mounting Bracket Examples in the firmware zip file might give you an idea as what others have done. I remember someone used one of those see through plastic kitchen snap lock boxes. Another source is your plumbing store for electrical type waterproof boxes (which is what was in the video)
I dont actually have a source for the boxes as each PCB is a bit different in size etc.
For project boxes I generally search eBay or AliExpress for project box abs and pick one based on the size of the PCB plus room for connectors. Its a bit hit and miss. The most important thing is the height of the box, you need around 40-50mm in height to account for the LCD and PCB. I think most of the focusers I have built all have different size boxes.
Some local hobby electronic stores also sell cases, including aluminium ones.
If you have a 3D printer then you can design your own case.
