Hi all. I built a simple focuser a few months ago using an UNO and CNC shield. It works great. I don't have the temp probe or any other features, just bare bones. I have never had a problem connecting to POTH and then to APT but recently I started using sharpcap to focus. I connect to the focuser unsing POTH but then when I try to connect the focuser in APT, it will not connect. I have to shut down sharpcap, poth and apt and start apt again. Is this a driver issue? I have the same problem with my older iOptron mount but that is a known acsom driver issue.

APT does not have very good live imaging. The resolution is not great and
the zoom is very limited. I get much better results in Sharpcap. I can live
with the issue, just not sure I was doing something wrong. Next time I am
out I'll try logging with POTH. Will have to look up how to do that. BTW,
my step brother got a focuser from you recently and he loves it :)

What soft of camera are you using?
In general I believe it is not a good idea to have multiple clients connect to a focuser. at the same time. It becomes difficult to determine what is sending what.

So the only new thing is Sharpcap right?
If APT is connecting to POTH then probably not. Can you enable logging in POTH and the ASCOM driver to get logfiles?
Personally I am not a fan of multiple clients connecting to a focuser.
Is there a reason you cannot autofocus in APT?

Have you looked at NINA or SCOPEASCOM
http://www.scopefocus.info/scopefocus-ascom

I am using a zwo 183. I’ll just adjust to connecting focuser once at a time. I’ll also switch to the straight ascom driver vs the poth.
Sent from my iPhone
NINA is worth a look since it is free, and handles the focusing very well. And the ZWO camera is fully supported.

I just got a mini PC today for my imaging and will download this. I have
heard good things about it. Thanks.
