focuser only moves in one direction

    Hi Robert,

after not using the focuser for a few months it wouldn't start up anymore.
Now,after changing firmware to the latest everything seems allright except that what ever I try the focuser will only travel in one direction.
If I try to move it out,it moves out and when I try to move it in it also moves out

I've tried several 8825 boards and arduino's but the problem stays.
some times it will reverse direction for a few moves and then it goes back to one direction only.
Also will it only run on the fastest speed.

With the new firmware I also added pushbuttons and while pushing them changes steps on the lcd they do not move the stepper although ther is a ticking sound coming from them.

I use the Focuserv279_DRV8825.ino firmware with pg 27 stepper.

Could you point me into the right direction to solve this?

    best regards

    Patrick Kastelijn

Assuming you have adjusted the current

I would check your stepper wiring from drv8825 to stepper motor - look very closely and check with a multimeter. Sounds like you have one stepper wire not having contact. Irratic movement like you describe points to a loose stepper wire. (or a short on a stepper wire to ground)

    Solved!

Thank you very much for your quick reply and help.

It was indeed one of the stepper wires making a bad connection
Took me some time to find which and where but everything is working as a charm again, including pushbuttons.

    Thanks Robert
