Bugs and Limitations


Known Bugs

These bugs have been found at the current release and will be fixed at the following release. If the bug is stroke through, it means the bug have been fixed at the current release.

Minor Bugs

These bugs will produce some unexpected results, but not affect the functionality of the editor.

  • When users save the edited raster to a new file, there may be a .tfw file named with a random integer at the saving location. It is a undeleted temporary file and of no use once the saving succeeds. Users can delete it manually. (1.1.0 Beta)
  • When users save the edited raster to a new file and load it into ArcMap again, NoData value of the new file may be different from the original file, however, actual values of pixels do not change. It only affect how it is displayed on the ArcMap and users can easily change the NoData value at ArcCatalog. (1.1.0 Beta)
  • The ROI may not be highlighted at the first time Identify tool is used. It is an issue of display and has no effect on functionality.
  • If there is only one edited pixel, no message box (asking for saving) will popup when users directly stop editing without saving. (1.0.1)
  • If a cell of raster grid view enters the editing mode, it will be marked as edited even without value change. (1.0.1)
  • If users select position that is out of the extent of the raster layer, there may be an error. (1.0.1)
  • ArcMap may crash when the NoDataValue of the editing layer is not specified. (1.1.1 Beta)
  • If the user edits a pixel without pressing "Enter" to confirm and select another immediately, it will raise an index error making the last editing disabled.

Major Bugs

These bugs can lead to totally incorrect results beyond the original purpose. Users should avoid them.

  • When users have selected pixels using Identify tool and immediately start the editing, the previous selection will remains without removal. (1.0.1)
  • If users remove the layer whose pixels are current selected using Identify tool, the selection will remain existing without removal. (1.0.1)
  • The ArcMap may immediately crash when the use tries to save edits to a file with particular formats. Situations include:
    • IMG at ArcMap 10.0
    • GRID at ArcMap 10.0/10.1/10.2

Potential Bugs or Limitations

These bugs or limitations may occur at some certain situations and they are not verified. Users should check this list in case the editing fails.

  • When a file is loaded into the ArcMap for two times and either one is being edited, it may raise a crash.
  • If too many pixels are selected at the same time, the ArcMap may lose respond.
  • Current the tool can only identify layers in the focus map. Please avoid to use this tool while several maps are created.
