When was it updated the last time (a date is missing imho - always good to know how old a guide is...) There is always a History page where you can check everything releted: http://sourceforge.net/apps/trac/archvdr/wiki/ArchVDR?action=history 2. Do I have to install Intel VAAPI for use with my Nvidia ION chipset? I guess not? I think you don't need to install Intell vaapi if you are going to use nvidia vdpau. But if you have Sandy Bridge system why not to try it also without nvdia card? 3. s2-liplianin-hg is outdated isn't it? My card should run fine without, shouldn't it? In that time it was needed to use it for our DVB-S2 cards, if your card is detected fine and driver are loaded, then just ignore that part. 4. The start-stop-daemon is only used to start and stop vdr? What about systemctrl? In time editing that wiki 3 Months before, systemd was not used and thus start-stop deamon. 5. xine-lib is also available with pacman - why do I have to use the one from your SVN? Because it have vaapi support. I didnt checked which one is in archlinux repository. 6. xine-ui is also available with pacman - why do I have to use the one from your SVN? Actually you are using xine-ui HG repository. 7. The XBMC part in your guide is missing the XBMC installation. Should I use the one from the repo with pacman or is there any related XBMC guide? Sure it have "sudo pacman -U xbmc-pvr-git-*-*.pkg.tar.xz" In that time we used xbmc-pvr branch. Wiki could be updated, but only once the packages are systemd ready. Because there is no way to start VDR, XBMC in systemd systems. Regards, |

Hello, currently I am building a new HTPC which should run VDR + XBMC. It is base on a ASUS ION ITX Board and a DVB-C card with CX23885 tuner. CPU: model name : Intel(R) Atom(TM) CPU D525 @ 1.80GHz 03:00.0 VGA compatible controller: NVIDIA Corporation GT218 [ION] (rev a2) Subsystem: ASUSTeK Computer Inc. Device 841f Kernel driver in use: nouveau 03:00.1 Audio device: NVIDIA Corporation High Definition Audio Controller (rev a1) Subsystem: ASUSTeK Computer Inc. Device 841f Kernel driver in use: snd_hda_intel 0b:00.0 Multimedia video controller: Conexant Systems, Inc. CX23885 PCI Video and Audio Decoder (rev 04) Subsystem: Device 4254:2800 Kernel driver in use: cx23885 I decided to use ArchLinux to benefit from rolling upgrade and a bleeding edge Kernel. I started installing by using this guide: http://sourceforge.net/apps/trac/archvdr/wiki/ArchVDR but I have got some questions about this guide: 1. When was it updated the last time (a date is missing imho - always good to know how old a guide is...) 2. Do I have to install Intel VAAPI for use with my Nvidia ION chipset? I guess not? 3. s2-liplianin-hg is outdated isn't it? My card should run fine without, shouldn't it? 4. The start-stop-daemon is only used to start and stop vdr? What about systemctrl? 5. xine-lib is also available with pacman - why do I have to use the one from your SVN? 6. xine-ui is also available with pacman - why do I have to use the one from your SVN? 7. The XBMC part in your guide is missing the XBMC installation. Should I use the one from the repo with pacman or is there any related XBMC guide? Thank you for your great work! Regards, Flo |

For rest of archvdr user i am not shure. |

Hello! Thank you for this package it is brilliant! Here I have no need for DVB-S2, only DVB-T. When I try makepkg -s on vdr-1.7.0 I get a dependency problem because I didn't recompile the kernel for DVB-S2. Is it possible for me to avoid this dependency with your vdr-1.7.0 package or should I make my own instead? Thanks very much! Richard |
