AraSuite is a set of tools (previously as separate projects: AraWord, TICO, AraBoard...) useful for working with people with disabilities, particularly those related with communication. That requires the use of aumentative and adaptative communication systems that combine pictograms and words as related concepts.
On the one hand, TICO is a tool for the design and execution of interactive communication boards. Communication boards are highly used in augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) environments.
On the other hand, AraWord is a word processor that combines pictograms and text to help disabled people.

Araword it's an excellent software for improve communication to person with disabilities

PER UTENTI ITALIANI: Anzitutto per installare il programma, settarne le opzioni, impostarlo in italiano, importare le immagini, esportarle ecc.. è necessario dare al programma e/o avviarlo con privilegi da amministratori (se non sapete come fare cercate su internet e troverete le spiegazioni), se no molte funzioni sono disabilitate, non salva le modifiche o non si avvia nemmeno!! Prima di installarlo assicuratevi inoltre di aver installato sul vostro PC java Virtual Machine in modalità 32 Bit e NON 64 Bit. Detto questo, il programma viene senza nessun database di immagini. Dovete ricordare che il programma utilizza i simboli/pittogrammi ARSAAC, quindi dovrete cercarli in internet e SCARICARE I DATABASE ITALIANI! A questo punto dovrete importarli nel programma che trovate su arasaac . org. Fatto questo dovrete eseguire il file dei pittogrammi e spacchettarli in una cartella che poi dovrà essere indicata al programma. A questo punto il programma dovrebbe iniziare a funzionare, ma a me ad esempio non funziona la sintesi vocale... suppongo che il programma voglia voci a 32 bit o a 16, e non gli piacciano quelle a 64... Beh insomma , l'installazione e configurazione del programma è un percorso a ostacoli, e anche eseguendo tutto correttamente non è detto che le cose vadano come devono.

Hi. The installer is in spanish (it will be multi-language as soon as possible). However, once in a tool (either AraWord or Tico) it is possible to change the language (English, French, ...). With respect to pictograms, they cannot be distributed altogether with Arasuite, since the license of Arasuite (GPL) and the pictogram distribution (Creative commons) are not compatible. However, once in any of the tools the pictograms can be dowloaded from the resources menu. Regards -

TICO und Araword sind wirklich großartig. Einfach zu bedienen und, was ich besonders toll finde, man kann ein Projekt einfach vom PC auf das Tablet und viceversa schieben. Wenn irgendwann noch die Sprachausgabe mit der Sstemstimme funktioniert, ist es perfekt: Gracias, amigos!
