I've forked aprsd and started pushing to a git repo at GitHub:
Background: I've setup aprsd running at my local ham radio club. We
don't have a machine powerful enough to run the java version, and
since I've come to realize this code was not updated in years I
guessed there should be some issues and bugs still lurking around.
The changes so far:
- The removal of autoconf dependency. I'm running Linux Debian 64,
developing using Eclipse C++, and hardcoded a working config.h file.
- Lots of compiler warnings and errors. Some undefined behaviors were
(I think) fixed.
- The class aprsString is no longer an std::string subclass.
I'm also debugging the code using valgrind. So far there were some
errors on incorrect new/delete combinations (new without delete),
but I haven't done an intensive test.
Until I get more familiar with the source code I'd still be fixing
small issues. In the following weeks I'd star picking some issues from
the Source Forge issue tracker.
My mid/long term goal is to keep up with the new APRS stuff, but I'm
no APRS expert myself.
Comments are most welcome.
