an impressive 12,000 downloads of the newest (non-beta) version, & over 24k downloads total.
wonder how many are regular users?
I get about 3,000 "checkins" each day for updates. Currently that comes out to over 1 GByte of data each day just for the XML. Thats about all the stats I have. Considering using the gzip accept header to reduce this.
let me know how gzip works out.
Ok, correction, thats 3,000 for apps.xml and versions.xml, so that is about 1,500 clients. Look at the stats page for unique monthly visitors from now on for the best count.
Also I recently checked in gzip code to the Metalink Checker codebase. So this will find its way into post 1.0 releases, I'm expecting it to reduce bandwidth by about 50% on servers that enable it.
very cool (& practical) :)
will there be a stand alone (single file) Checker update?
will the logo be used in the 1.0 final release?
Yes, plan on releasing another Metalink Checker version after Appupdater 1.0. Will feed the bugfixes from Appupdater into it at that point. Will feed the new features from Metalink Checker into Appupdater at that point as well to sync up all the code.
Yes, logo will be included with 1.0.
& maybe a podcast interview to celebrate 1.0?
