Since one of the goals of this project is to provide a daemon running on the desktop, it makes sense to use a UNIX domain socket for IPC instead of a TCP socket. The current version of SOAP::Lite does not contain support for this, so we are working on adding it. It will hopefully be available by the end of July (the O'Reilly Open Source Conference is taking up the next week).
