Swap directory location not found

APPARENTLY I had, at one time, an installation disk on my computer which contained my virtual memory. When I run Applejack, I get an error/warning that this directory can no longer be found and to "PROCEED WITH CAUTION" - which is pretty darn scary given that I have almost no idea what I'm doing in the first place (that's why I got AJ)
I don't think I actually NEED a .vm directory thingy, since nothing else seems to ask for one, or note it's absence.
Can I reset this thing... or reinstall a .vm and if so, where would AJ actually look for it?
ANY help would be greatly appreciated.
thanks
