I booted into single user mode, and typed applejack
auto restart at the prompt. Applejack goes through the
disk repair just fine, but hangs during permissions
repair. It gets to this point:

Starting the Mac OS X disk system...
UniNEnet: Ethernet address 00:03:93:3f:38:bc

I left it sitting there over night to no avail and
can't seem to do anything at that point. Control C does
nothing.

The machine is a 733Mhz Quicksilver G4 running OS 10.3.9.

This article makes me think this problem might be specific
    to 10.3.9: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?

Apparently there's a problem with the latest version of
iTunes that can cause the symptoms I'm seeing. Tomorrow I'm
going to test this hypothesis by connecting my computer to
an iMac in target mode and moving the offending iTunes
files. I sure hope that solves the problem.

Moving this into pending status, as I'm assuming the iTunes solution worked to resolve this issue. Thanks.
