#6 Adobe Reader 8 does not launch correctly

After dragging the menu item (Adobe Reader 8) from the start menu (with control key down) to appetizer, the icon appears in the appetizer window, but the application does not launch correctly. Appears to try to open dos shell briefly, but there are not other messages. Maybe this app is doing something not supported.
