The image pattern for procedural textures currently
provides RGB outputs. I think it would be useful if it
could also output HSV values as well. The choice of
color representation could be selectable by the user to
avoid having too many outputs.
An example of how I might use this feature is to map
the 'value' component of an image to the displacement
parameter to create pseudo-3D effects based on the
