A pipe dream: Export AoI textures/materials to Cg shaders?

Is this even remotely feasible? Would be awesome if we could harness AoI's excellent texture editor for creating shaders...

I didn't know anyone still used Cg. Not GLSL or HLSL? Why?

Anyway: yes, it's conceivable, just a huge amount of work. Something like this has been on my mind for a long time. When I first started writing the OpenGL renderer, I intended that it would eventually support procedural textures by converting them to GLSL. I don't know that I'll ever get back to that plugin, though, since it's not clear it really has much value. A far more useful project (but one taking an even huger amount of work!) would be a GPU accelerated raytracer, and that would need something similar.

Oh, Cg fell out of fashion? I thought it was the cool thing to use, since it's independent of render engine (OpenGL vs. DirectX)...
