I've been getting a null-pointer exception a lot while
raytrace rendering in 1.4ea2. Sometimes the whole
program just disappears suddenly and other times I get
an error in the DOS window (Windows XP). The error
reported is:

java.lang.NullPointerException
at
artofillusion.raytracer.RTTriangle.intersectionTexture(RTTriangle.jav
a:215)
at
artofillusion.raytracer.Raytracer.spawnRay(Raytracer.java:1042)
at
artofillusion.raytracer.Raytracer.spawnRay(Raytracer.java:1215)
at
artofillusion.raytracer.Raytracer.spawnRay(Raytracer.java:1249)
at
artofillusion.raytracer.Raytracer.spawnEyeRay(Raytracer.java:939)
at
artofillusion.raytracer.Raytracer.run(Raytracer.java:743)
at java.lang.Thread.run(Unknown Source)

I've looked further into this and it seems the problem
occurs with the very large sphere I'm using for the
sky--texture on the inside. When I delete this object,
"Sphere 2", the render works ok. The parameters I used
are 1024x768 pixels, antialiasing, depth of field, and
Gloss/Translucency checked. Min rays 16 Max 64. The
rest is default.

The source file is kind of a mess with objects at weird
angles and default object names since it is a work in
progress.

I couldn't reproduce this, and neither could Nathan when he
    tried it again.
