I've got a few SR1561 devices running, and I'd like to periodically poll them for status. Before I delve deep into writing something new, has anyone else done this already? Ideally, I'd like to get the output of 'list -l', 'show -c', and similar commands. For the lone SR2461 we have, I'd also like to get the temperature/fan status as well. Something as simple as running cec with several commands, dumping the output to STDOUT, then disconnecting would be fine. Looking at the cec manpage, and after doing a bit of experimentation, it doesn't appear that this is (easily) possible, without resorting to something like expect. And of course, if I can get at the SMART information for each drive, that'd be cool too. :) I've seen the post in the mailing list about using aoeping to get SMART data, but I'm not sure how useful that will be on the SR devices. So any ideas? And could I request that cec get a "run these commands then exit" option? In order to use this, the admin would need to specify one or both of a MAC address or shelf number. For example: cec -s 0 -c 'list -l' eth4 Of course, adding multiple commands to a single call would be useful as well, since this would cut down on connection overhead. cec -s 1 -c 'show -c' -c 'temp' -c 'when' eth5 Aside from being useful for polling status, this could also be helpful provisioning systems as well: CMDS="shelf 10; make 0 raid5 10.0-14; spare 10.14" cec -m 00304875AB34 -c "$CMDS" -- Jesse Becker NHGRI Linux support (Digicon Contractor) |

They don't run some sort of snmp service? This would probably be a better question for Coraid tech support than the AoE mailing list unless one of the Coraid people want to discuss that here. |

There is a small set of conversations that usually come out of this inquiry, depending on the goals of the person with the SRs. Emailing su...@co... is best, because it's product-specific. We have a long term solution and a couple of short term solutions. -- Ed L Cashin <ec...@co...> |
